What's your Calling?
Is it some career path?
A unique gift that you have?
A passion or obsession?
Yes, it can include these but I see it like this: Your ‘Calling’ is an experience that you strive to (re)create and share with others.
Your Calling is what you are here to create.
And it can express itself in various ways.
For example: my calling is ‘People being in Alignment.’
Which means I feel a sense of fulfilment when I experience Alignment- whether in myself or by recognizing others in alignment.
It’s the one experience that I LIVE for. So then, it becomes my mission to be aligned and share that experience with others- inspiring them into it too.
Notice that my example involves other people.
I believe this is a crucial component of everyone’s Calling.
We are social creatures, and inherently we all want the best for each other- we can debate that but I believe deep down it's truly what everyone wants. So, it’s only natural that our Calling would universally include others. Ultimately, our Calling is meant to inspire, uplift and bring people together.
I’ve found the best way to hone in on what your calling is- ie how to put it into words- is to reflect back on the moments that you felt most alive.
Notice those moments: - What you were doing - How you felt - How it made others feel (most important).
Try to describe & articulate that experience into something like: ‘People feeling/being _________”
I like this approach is because when the focus is on the experience & the feeling that it creates- the act itself can look like anything.
All activities or expressions are included.
It’s not limited to “I’m an artist” or “Founder of a billion dollar business” or even “Coaching people to freedom”. Because the experience of your Calling can shape-shift into countless expressions and actions
The key is that they're all aligned with that experience for you.
Even simply sitting in cafe, overhearing a conversation from across the room- where the people are clearly inspired & aligned- I feel fulfilled- that’s my Calling.
That's when I know it's true for me.
When I don't even need to be 'involved'- but simply witnessing it is enough to be inspired.
